where can i find my installed cd key - Guild Wars Forums

im pretty sure this has been asked before but i dont see where (search function not working)
so as the title says im trying to retrieve my cd key from my computer that has gw installed

You can't as far as I know. I don't think it's stored at all.

As soon as your account is created the cd-key is tied to the actually account.

Once you have an active account, you don't need your cd-key to install anymore. Only time cd-key could come up is with issues of your account (and support from anet requires it if your dealing with an issue with them).

You can install the game anywhere and just log in with your username and password.

If I may ask ? Why? You never need it again. Even if reinstalling on a new computer. just install and log in. simple as that. BTW this is the ONLY GAME IN EXISTANCE that is that user friendly...

It is a blessing to hear that I no longer need the CD Key and that it is bound to my email account. My 4yr old son took my original GW CD's and hid them really good. I will need to do a full reformat/reinstall to my system and was terrirfied to think I was screwed.

The CD keys are tied to your account, so no worries. Your account is stored on ANet's servers - you can just reinstall GW on just about any computer, enter your login info as usual, and your account will still be there.

The only time you do need the keys is if your account gets hacked, they'll ask for your keys to prove the account is yours so they can give it back...
